New tour, gig dates and album

Just posted – The Beggars new gig and tour dates https://beggars.com.au/?page_id=44 including: Valentines Day dinner – thats Monday the 14th of February at Mick O’Shay’s main South Rd Hackam http://www.mickosheas.com.au/bars.html plus CD launch dates which are in April in Adelaide & Melbourne and some new German tour dates for May. This European tour is 4 weeks long so there will be plenty more tour dates and Ill post them as soon as they are confirmed.

We recorded and mixed the new album in just 7 days at Sody pop in Adelaide and Damien Gerard Studios in Sydney. It went down really fast and was very easy to mix and that is a really good sign. The working title is Australian Songbook and its a collection of great Australian songs, some old ones like Waltzing Matilda and and some modern ones like Paul Kelly’s Too Her Door. In the shots below you can see Stu playing his fiddle into Sody Pops new microphone – a reissue of the old ribbon microphones made famous by great crooners like Bong Crosby. It gives a fantastic warm sound especial on the vocals in fact the whole album has a great acoustic sound and vibe. I think it’s got the feel of a really well recorded live show.

Australia Day

We played two shows last Wednesday – Australia Day and I got a couple of photos on my iPhone from the second concert which was a big family bush day at The South Adelaide Football Club in front of a big crowd of around 6000. Happy Australia Day to everybody!

The Beggars last gig of 2010 was a beauty with a great atmosphere great sound and vibe – we were fortunate enough to have the wonderful Trev Warner on the fiddle and dobro. Thanks to all the friendly people who came down to he Wheatsheaf and made it into a really great afternoon and thanks to Ian Fisk for the photos.

Turn Turn Turn makes the iTunes singer songwriter chart.

I always knew The Beggars made great music, but we found it a real struggle to get the music out there. We could not get our music into the shops and the only place we were able to sell was at our gigs. For the last 6 months we have had a company called Tune Works working on our first two albums “Desert Flower” “Beggars” and our “Dreams” EP and the sales at iTunes have really started to tick over. Turn Turn Turn from the Dreams EP even made it onto the iTunes Singer Songwriter charts in Australia, Germany and Canada. http://www.music-chart.info/song/573724/Turn-Turn-Turn
