We had a super tour in Europe through June and July playing some great shows and meeting many new friends. It was a full itinerary with 20 concerts across Germany, Denmark and Switzerland in 20 days here are a few photos of the gigs and stages.
We started with some club gigs in Germany. This one is from a great little club called the Bischofsmuhle or Bishops Mill.
Then we drove North into Denmark to play the Skagin festival. This us plugging in to play in the big tent.
25 piece male choir joined us for a sing along.

We have just finished the first tour of our new show SING. 8 concerts with the fabulous Trev Warner joining us on fiddle and dobro. We are all really thrilled with how well the concerts went. The standouts for me were the first concert at the Marion Cultural Center and the Trinity Sessions show where we were supported by The Texettes. Here are a few photos from the tour.
So now we put SING away till later in the year and head to Europe for a tour. First stop is Zurich and I am looking for some hot weather please. We have made a new CD ready for the Euro tour 15 tracks and they are all classics.

Hey to all our European friends – we will see you soon !
The May tour was the last outing for Australian Songbook, for now anyway, with the new SING! album and show kicking of June 11th. The tour took in South Australian, Victorian and New South Wales dates so a lot of driving and some great concerts along the way. They were all fantastic but some of the stand outs for me were the very elegant Keyenton Town Hall, the spectacular Glasshouse Theatre in Pt Macquarie and especially the last show at Hamilton which was a just so enthusiastic received, with the audience breaking into applause during the intros of some songs.. I want to thank all the audiences, management of all the theatres, sound and light crews and front of house staff for making every thing run so smoothly on what was a great tour!
Here is review of the Keyenton Show from Justin Charleson /Macedon Ranges Shire Council
“Loved working with the beggars, from the start of sound check till we closed the doors they filled our theatre with melodies and stories of the Australian spirit that has transcended hardship and embraced its own rugged identity. Beautiful harmonies soaring across a show case of folk instruments and virtuosity of musicianship. Referencing an Australian song writing tradition that has oft been over looked and over shadowed by mainstream music media. The stories within the Australian Songbook are relevant to the young and old, the urban and rural, the music lover and those that thirst for a yarn or love to reminisce.”

There are a stack of new June and July European shows announced on our Gig Calendar and on The Beggars Facebook page. New shows shows and details are also announced for South Australia Victorian and New South Wales.
The Beggars are touring Germany, Switzerland and Denmark for three weeks through June and July. To celebrate getting another international tour of the ground and raise some cash for the flights we are playing a concert on Friday June 14 at the Trinity Sessions 318 Goodwood Road and all the profits will go toward the flights. We will be ably supported on the night by the superb singer songwriters The Texettes and later in the night the wonderful Trev Warner who will join us on stage. There is a facebook event page for the June 14 concert if you like to use that.
Tix will be online at dramatix or phone Trinity on 82974037 to book.
Tour
I will post the tour dates in our gig calendar when they are all confirmed. The highlight of the 15 or so shows on the tour will almost certainly be the Skagen Festival in Denmark the longest running festival in that part of the world, it features a strong line up of Australian acts.
Album
We have been working on a new album called SING! and we will have the new CD for sale on the night!
